Permanent, Gentle, and Rapid
These are the three ideals of homeopathic care: that healing should be rapid, gentle, and a permanent restoration of your health. This means it’s not only the complete annihilation of dis-ease throughout an entire health system, but also in the shortest, most reliable, and most advantageous way for the entirety of the person. Wow!…(Mic drop?) I love this about homeopathy. Where else will receive such high ideals in the pursuit of your highest well-being?! I’ve been meditating on these healing principles for awhile in recent weeks. These important principles are something I’m well-acquainted with after almost nearly 15 years of professional practice in the art and science of homeopathy. In certain ways, I’ve come to take it for granted. With anything in life, the more you do something, the more integrated it becomes into your everyday existence until it’s almost habitual and commonplace in one’s vernacular or being. I suppose this has been happening to me for some time. Though, I was re-awakened to it after receiving a recent training (you can never learn enough!) on an important aspect of homeopathic remedies. I was reminded of something critical that occurs everyday in clinical practice, but was hidden behind the activities of everyday life and interactions with clients. Permanent, gentle, and rapid. In homeopathy, we ardently study the seminal work by its founder, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, called “The Organon of the Medical Art” (or “The Organon,” for short). Dr. Hahnemann first discovered some of the central tenets of homeopathy fairly accidental-like in the late 18th century. He later formulated, throughout a few more decades, the system of medicine we call homeopathy. The Organon is a series of aphorisms that lay out for us the philosophy and practice of homeopathy, as well as so much more. Aphorism 2 (6th edition) states: The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle, and permanent restoration of health; that is, the lifting and annihilation of the disease in its entire extent in the shortest, most reliable, and least disadvantageous way, according to clearly realizable principles. This aphorism has been so grounded into my being that I’ve almost forgotten about it. But, this is what we do everyday for you. We homeopaths have dedicated our lives to a system of healing that does this exact thing…for you! Against many odds, against cultural norms; against familiar customs of what medicine is thought, or ought, to be; at the risk of sounding and feeling ‘weird’ to everyone we know when we decided to enter into this field, here we are. Offering a permanent, rapid, and gentle solution to whatever ails you. Isn’t that wonderful! It just caught me off-guard what we are indeed doing. I was struck by the simplicity and beauty of this medical healing art…once again. This happens from time to time. Things become so ingrained and it’s easy to forget the transcendent, extraordinary, almost miraculous work we are doing in homeopathy, every…single…day. I’ve seen things change in people in those kinds of ways. It’s breath-taking, really. And, I’ve also been a part of a healing journey that has felt less than rapid. Yet, it remains gentle, and on the way towards permanency, all the same. If you feel called to a solution where the highest ideal of healing is the permanent, rapid, and gentle restoration of your health, then look no further. These promises await you in homeopathy. You can contact me for more information, work with my wife who is also a classical homeopath, or work with any other qualified homeopath that resonates with you. You can find other board-certified homeopaths here. Thanks for reading this inspired musing about homeopathy, which caught me off-guard. Sometimes things grab at you, and you can’t help but share them with anyone who will listen. All my best, Noel

My presentation will be on Friday, March 24, but the whole weekend will include stellar homeopaths covering a wide range of topics that will certainly intrigue you and leave you with a vast amount of knowledge to take home. Whether you're a homeopathy enthusiast, home-prescriber, student or professional, JAHC has something for you! I hope you'll join me at JAHC 2023! Attendance can be both in-person or virtual. It's a common remark I have nowadays. Sounds almost too simple or trite to say, or even counter-productive in the practice of homeopathy. But, it has become necessary to assert. How about you? Have you felt it's not okay to have symptoms? Many others have and I felt it was important to address it. In a time when there’s great anxiety and fear about contagions, it’s important to know that symptoms and illness serve a purpose. As much as we don't like them, symptoms are not meant to be avoided at all costs. To make sense of this we have to go back to an aspect of homeopathic philosophy which states signs and symptoms are the manifestation of a vital life force that is out of balance, or is ‘mis-tuned’. Fundamental to the homeopathic understanding of health and disease relates to this natural and innate healing intelligence of the body. Symptoms aren’t meant to be suppressed. Rather, they are meant to be understood in light of the whole person, and they point to where each person needs help with their health being restored, or re-tuned. It’s unfortunately become almost unacceptable to have symptoms in recent times. Someone with a cough, sneeze, or fever for example can be looked upon as the new leper. We can’t continue like this. Illness and disease will always be a part of our reality. We can’t eradicate it completely since we live in an entire ecosystem with contagions who have their own purpose and desire for existence, as well. It’s important to keep perspective when things go awry, too. Sickness happens. Symptoms come up. In young children, the healthy maturation of their immune system and development is linked with exposure and supporting the body as it moves through an illness naturally. As homeopaths, our focus is on understanding what is happening in as much detail as possible, then choose the most well-indicated homeopathic medicine to help you. Your vital life force rules with unbounded sway over your entire organism. We just need to get it tuned back up so that your body can finds it’s own way back to optimal health. I work with many parents and families who have expressed concern about their own children getting sick in recent times. I must reaffirm, regardless of diagnosis, homeopathy will help. If it’s a well-selected homeopathic medicine, it always will. You are not a pariah if you or your children have symptoms. Simply reach out for help. That said, with kids returning back to school in-person, it is the natural and expected outcome that they will come into contact with contagions more frequently again. No matter! The following lists common ailments kids may encounter as they return back to school, of which I’m also seeing more of in recent weeks (please note this list is not exhaustive):
Those are just some of the physical ailments your kids may encounter. What about their mental and emotional state? This is where I think the most impact will be on your kids. They are being reacquainted with one another again. It may take some time and adjustment for social interactions to smooth out. Like many adults, isolation the past 18+ months has taken its toll on children too. Be mindful of how they’re feeling. Check in with them often. Take note of any changes in behavior or demeanor that seems out of the ordinary. All told there are innumerable homeopathic medicines that could be helpful for children experiencing some or all of the above. Here are some favorites that could come in handy on short notice:
This is just a small sample of homeopathic medicines that may help your kids from a mental and emotional perspective. It’s important to note that particularly when you’re dealing with symptoms on those levels to seek the help of a professional homeopath. Proper care and attention is paid to each individual and their unique circumstances and situations, and the above list is just the tip of the iceberg of remedies that could help them. Above all, this blog is intended to let you know that you’re not alone with what you’re feeling; your children aren’t alone either, and that there is help. It's okay to have symptoms. I urge you to reach out if needed. The health of your family and your local community depends on it. Sincerely, Noel We have a critical opportunity to take another step on our way to federal legislation that protects access to homeopathic medicine for generations to come. We have a deadline of August 9 for that step, so it is important for you to act right away!
Key members of Congress are ready to sign a letter to the FDA that details the concerns of the homeopathy community. The letter asks the agency to answer for policies that are taking genuine homeopathic products essential to people’s health off the market. The more members of Congress we get to sign that letter, the stronger the message will be. And just as important, the letter will show that there is a growing bipartisan coalition that includes both liberal and conservative members who support a diversity of health care options. That’s how most things get done in Congress—when members with opposing political viewpoints find common ground and bring the moderates with them. This letter can galvanize that process! TELL THEM TO SIGN THE LETTER! Click the following link or the button at the bottom. https://homeopathychoice.org/send-a-message-to-members-of-congress/#/5 We need you to contact your members of Congress and ask them to sign the letter to the FDA. It’s easy to do through our Congress Plus system. Just click on the button below to go to the Americans For Homeopathy Choice site. After you fill in a few blanks, the system automatically finds your U.S. representative and your senators. Then you can send your message to all of them with one click. All our efforts are starting to pay off! We need your help to get us one step closer to victory. With this we are on a clock, so please take time now to send your message. With urgency and gratitude, Noel P.S. Please forward this message to anyone you can think of who cares about homeopathy. Time is running out! To Teach is to Learn Twice
I’ve recently been asked to join the teaching faculty for a burgeoning professional training homeopathy school called Prometheus Homeopathic Institute (PHI). This is an exciting development in my career and quite an honor to be a part of ushering in new generations of homeopathic practitioners. We’re still a fairly small industry in comparison to other alternative or conventional medical paradigms, so our work is cut out for us! Even so, this answers a further calling of mine in this field which is to educate. So much of what we do as practitioners is discuss the basic principles of homeopathic healing in as simple of terms as we can. It’s not uncommon for us to hold community meetings or talks just to inform others about the promise of homeopathy for individuals and entire families. All of that is intended for the lay public, or it happens daily in private practice with my patients throughout the course of their own healing. Another aspect of teaching is reacquainting with the material in ways that are now a part of my regular vernacular, but in a deeper way. Homeopathy is one of those fields where a skilled practitioner is never done. This is as much an art as it is a science. We can always go deeper in terms of our understanding of homeopathic remedies, or homeopathic philosophy for healing, etc. So, teaching it is like learning it twice, but in a more dynamic and all-encompassing way. I’m excited for that part of the journey ahead. This is a new and fun change for me to be interacting with and teaching homeopathic students. I’m excited and thought to share the good news with you. If you are or have considered a career in homeopathy, please visit https://prometheushomeopathicinstitute.com to learn more about how to enroll at PHI. And perhaps I’ll see you there! Top Remedies for the Summer I hope you’re enjoying your summer so far! As great as they are, here in central Texas summer brings much heat, sunburn, bug bites, and the like. The healing effects from a specific homeopathic medicine is quite multi-faceted, but when it comes to the ailments felt during this season, here are a few of my favorites:
This list is by no means exhaustive, but they are a few of my favorite ones while having some summer fun. I hope they can help you too! Finally, thank you for incorporating homeopathic medicine into your life and the pursuit of optimal well-being for you and/or your family! This is quite the thing to be a part of and I’m glad I’m on that journey with you. Cheers to a great rest of the summer! Sincerely, Noel |
